Ghost Peach Chilli

R90.00

The Ghost Peach chilli pepper is a vibrant and fiery variety of the famous Bhut Jolokia pepper, known for its blistering heat and fruity flavour. It is a favorite among chilli enthusiasts and hot sauce makers, offering both a challenge and a rewarding flavor profile for those who can handle extreme spice. Whether you’re using it in hot sauces or adding it to your cooking, the Ghost Peach is sure to bring a unique, powerful kick to any dish.

The Ghost Peach pepper is incredibly hot, with around 1,000,000 to 1,200,000 Scoville Heat Units (SHU).

The Ghost Peach’s most distinguishing feature is its peach-like colour, which ranges from pale yellow to a soft, orange-peach hue when ripe. This gives it a visually striking appearance.

Its wrinkled, bumpy surface is similar to that of other super-hot peppers, such as the regular Ghost Pepper (Bhut Jolokia) or the Scorpion pepper varieties.

The peppers are generally small to medium-sized.

Despite the overwhelming heat, the Ghost Peach has a fruity, slightly sweet flavour with citrus and floral notes, common in many super-hot peppers.

Position
Ghost peppers thrive in warm climates. The ideal temperature range is between 21-32°C. Make sure the area gets plenty of sunlight.

Soil
Well-draining, fertile soil with a slightly acidic to neutral pH (6.0-6.8) is perfect. You can improve the soil by adding compost or organic matter.

Watering

Water regularly to keep the soil moist but not soggy. The plants prefer deep watering to encourage strong root development.

Too much water can lead to root rot, so make sure the soil is well-drained.

Mulch

Use from 2 to 5 centimetres of pine bark mulch to protect the roots from UV damage and drying out. It retains moisture and maintains an optimal pH. Do not let the mulch touch the plant stem, as it may cause infection or rot.

Re-apply every 3-4 months.

Pruning

Prune the plants by removing any dead or damaged leaves. You can also pinch back the growing tips to encourage branching and more fruit production.

Fertilising

Use a balanced fertiliser (such as 10-10-10) during planting and again every 4-6 weeks throughout the growing season to encourage healthy growth.

Too much nitrogen can lead to excessive foliage growth with little fruit production.

Apply 1 teaspoon every 4-5 months of our slow-release all-plant fertiliser. The roots will absorb what they need.

Pests & Diseases

Watch for pests like aphids, spider mites, and whiteflies.

Prevent fungal diseases like blight by providing good airflow and avoiding overhead watering. Crop rotation helps avoid soil-borne diseases.

Treat promptly or preferably use preventative measures by spraying with agricultural Neem Oil or Effective Microorganisms (EM Control)
