Primotalii Chocolate 7 Pot

R90.00

The Primotali Chocolate chilli (Capsicum Chinense) is a new and exciting hybrid pepper that combines traits from the 7 Pot Primo and the fatalii chilli varieties—known for its intense heat, as high as 2,200,000 SHU, placing it among the hotter chili peppers, though not as extreme as the Carolina Reaper or Trinidad Scorpion.

These medium to large-sized peppers, measuring about 7 to 10 cm long, have a distinctive dark brown color when fully ripe and wrinkled skin. Their complex flavour combines fruity, smoky, and earthy notes, making them ideal for hot sauces, salsas, marinades, and spicy dishes like stews, grilled meats, and curries. The Primotali Chocolate can also be dried and ground into chilli flakes or powder for added heat in various foods.

Position

Primotalii chilli peppers are sensitive to frost, so make sure to plant them after the last frost date in your area. If you are growing them indoors, maintain a warm, consistent temperature.

If you’re growing Chocolate Primotalii in containers, use large pots with good drainage—at least 50cm or more. The bigger the container, the better the root system can develop.

Whether planting in the ground or a container place in a sunny spot, as these peppers need at least 6 hours of direct sunlight per day

Soil

Chilli peppers prefer well-draining, fertile soil with a pH level of 6.0 to 6.8. Add compost or well-rotted manure to improve soil fertility. The soil should be rich in organic material to promote strong growth. Add half a bag of our Volcanic Rock Dust (R25 per bag) and a bag of Superfrass (R25 per bag) which will assist in rapid growth

Water

Keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged. Avoid overhead watering to prevent fungal diseases. Water at the base of the plants, ensuring the roots stay hydrated.

Fertilsing

Use a balanced fertiliser throughout the growing season, especially once the plants begin to flower. A fertiliser with a higher potassium level can also support fruit production and development.

Alternatively use our slow-release nitrogen rich all-plant fertiliser. Apply one teaspoon every 4-5 months. The roots will absorb what they need.

Pruning

Pruning is not essential but can help improve airflow and reduce disease risk. Pruning the lower leaves can also encourage better growth.

Pests and Disease Manageement

Monitor for common pests such as aphids, spider mites, and pepper weevils. Spraying with agricultural Neem Oil or Effective Microorganisms (EM Control ) will assist in either prevention or after the fact. If you already have aphids or mites, wash the vine with a harsh hosing, and when dry, spray with Neem oil or EM Control.
