Rutgers University Pumpkin Habanero

Capsicum Chinense

The Pumpkin Habanero boasts more heat than a bell pepper but less kick than a habanero, making it the perfect spice to add to any dish.

The pods have a unique pumpkin shape, smooth skin, and bright tangerine colour. It has a sweet and crunchy taste which does not overwhelm your mouth.

Heat Factor: Rutgers pumpkin habanero rates at 30 000 – 50 000 on Schoville Heat units.

Chilli peppers grow best in hot climates, won’t tolerate frost, and enjoy full sun. The ideal growing temperatures are between 20 and 30 degrees Celsius.

Chillies can grow in containers as long as they are positioned on a sun-filled windowsill. The size of the pot should be at least 10cm in diameter. When you notice roots growing out of the drainage holes, it is time to replant into a larger container.
